A Steampunk Valentine

Written By Unknown on Thursday, February 2, 2012 | 10:00 PM

I thought I would show you my very first attempt at Steampunk today. I posted it on the Teddy Bo Challenge Blog last friday, but couldn't show it on my blog because it was Polkadoodles day, it's the other teams turn on the PD blog this week so I thought that this was the perfect time to show this card.

Now I have probably told you this before but Gayle who draws Teddy Bo, also has a couple of other ranges of digi stamps, there are the D'Arcy stamps but she also does a range called Wonderland stamps, which are a little bit different from her others and the digi stamp I've used on this card is from that range. She is called the Queen of Hearts (from Alice in Wonderland) and she is just gorgeous.

Geared Heart and Flowers - This be me scraps - Steam punk for her (on sale for $1.00 at the moment)
Cogs and gears from an old clock
Sentiment mat - Xcut nesting dies-ornate bookplate
My hubby took an old clock apart for the cogs.
The large heart with the clock in the middle is a graphic which is printed onto 190gsm Matt Photo paper, but it looks so realistic, I actually want to wind the clock up and put the time right. LOL!

I am going to enter my steampunk card in these challenges
Just Inspirational Challenges - Picture inspiration & optional sketch

Little Miss Muffet Challenges - Valentines & love
Moving Along With The Times  - At least 1 heart clearly visible

And then for a complete change of subject, I have a baby card to show you. I am not sure what the name of the fold is, but is is something like  aTri-fold, fold back card!?!?!?!?!?!
I really don't like to make cards any smaller than 15cms sq or A5 and all the templates I could find for this type of card ended up being DL size, so I used two pieces of card and adapted the design to make a card that measures just under 15cms sq.

This is how the card looks folded flat.

Papers - Zoe's Spring - The Paper Shelter
Ribbon and dummy - MeiFlower
Lace and card candy - stash

Here it is open

and here it is wider, so that you can see a bit of the inside.

Hope you enjoyed today's cards, I'll be back Sunday with a Clipart Fairy creation.

Colette xx
